1998 Nichols Meritage; Vinas del Sol Vineyard, San Miguel, CA, Central Coast * Silver Medal- International Riverside Wine Competition Cabernet Sauvignon 47%, Merlot 18%, Cabernet Franc 36% Winemaker notes This Meritage (Bordeaux Blend) has a forward nose that reveals lots of fruit. The mouth feel is like velvet. Ripe cherry, currant, plum, strawberry, blueberry and wild berries are unveiled on the palate. It is delightful integrated with hints of caramel, smoke, and toast wrapping around the fruit. It is complex, rich, and has fruit that is extremely well balanced.
